NewsThe Twang get the party started at Carling Weekend: Leeds FestivalThe Twang rounded off their summer circuit with a crowd pleasing debut at the Carling Weekend: Leeds Festival this evening (August 26). Taking to the NME/Radio 1 Tent, the Birmingham five-piece were warmly received as they kicked off their show with 'The Neighbour'. The band performed eight tracks from their debut album including hit singles 'Wide Awake' and 'Either Way', which saw the crowd bellow out every word, and forthcoming release 'Two Lovers'. Commenting on the size of his audience, singer Phil Etheridge said: "It means a lot to us for you to come and see us because there's lots of other bands on. "I hope you've had a great weekend because I have, fucking hell! Let's keep this party going." The band closed their boisterous set by firing white ticker tape over the crowd during 'Cloudy Room'. Moby Rocks With Unnamed Band, Preps Next Album While continuing work on his next album, due in 2008, Moby has formed a rock band that is as-yet-unnamed. The group played a fundraiser in New York earlier this week and will be back on stage for more shows in June, with details to be announced. "We were 'the Little Death' until we realized that there are about five other Little Deaths out there and, as we live in a litigatious culture, we opted to avoid lawsuits and, thus, refrained from naming ourselves 'the Little Death,'" Moby says. In the meantime, Moby will play a host of DJ sets this month, beginning Saturday (May 5) at Studio B in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he will "be playing awesome old rave tracks." The DJ gigs continue in Cannes, France (May 16); Montpelier, France (May 17); Barcelona (May 18); Madrid (May 19) and back in New York (Nublu, June 15). |
